About Greg "Krucial" Carney

Performer, Choreographer, & Fitness Instructor

BIOGRAPHY

Greg “Krucial” Carney Krucial (pronounced crucial) is originally from Harriman, TN, moving to Knoxville in 1992. Greg’s inspiration came from icons, such as James Brown, Elvis Pressley, MC Hammer, and the legendary Michael Jackson. Greg has had several encounters with some of the same musical artists he grew up listening to, including meeting MC Hammer on a number of occasions and playing a role in his ‘Pepsi feelings’ commercial, which was filmed right in Knoxville, TN in 1993. “Entertaining”, Greg states, started in 1985 when he was in high school in the 9th grade. Greg was in a trio rap group called “The Homeboys”. This was an anti-drug and alcohol group that traveled to different schools and performed songs about JUST SAY NO to DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. We were supported by the school… as long as our grades were good we could travel and perform.

In 1993 Greg started another anti-drug and alcohol group called ENSTEPP (Effective New Styles to entertain party people) performing positive songs to influence children to stay off drugs and alcohol. After being with ENSTEPP for 2 years, Greg helped form another anti-drug and alcohol group, called PARADICE (Please Always Remember Alcohol and Drugs Influence Children Every Day). "We touched a lot of subjects through our songs about peer pressure, teenage pregnancy, the importance of education, and how kids should listen to their parents," according to Greg.

Greg is an accomplished local performer with many years of experience performing and teaching Hip-Hop from the beginning (aerobics) level, through the mastery series. He has choreographed hip-hop routines for Union County High School Dance Team and Loudon County High School Dance Teams, as well as The G-Force Cheerleading and Tumbling Team and Knoxville Elite Cheerleading and Dance.

He took 1st place in the Who Can Dance dance competition in Cincinnati, Ohio, 5th place in the Florida Spring Break Dance Off dance competition, and was in the top 100 finalists for Beyonce’s World Tour. He performed at the BudFest in Atlanta, Georgia, and danced in the MC Hammer Pepsi Feelings commercial. He, also, volunteers as a dance teacher with Urban Divine and was the founder of P.A.R.A.D.I.C.E. (a non-profit sing/rap/dance group working to educate kids against drugs). Because of his unique step-by-step teaching style and outgoing personality, his classes are always FUN! By the way…you may have seen him around town with his production of THRILLER.
